Center Airbag Sensor Communication Stop Mode [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY BRANCH LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D36-13 (CANH) - D36-22 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Airbag ECU Assembly)

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH LINE OR CONNECTOR (AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D36-25 (E1) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Below 1 Ω
      D36-26 (E2) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Below 1 Ω
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D36-21 (IG2) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      (to Airbag ECU Assembly)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
