There is No Sound Made [10/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Trouble Codes.
    5. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1350 is not output A
      DTC B1350 is output B
      Communication with the Techstream is not possible C

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART B1350 

    (Refer to DTC B1350: Speaker Circuit [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE (Communication between Vehicle Proximity Notification System and Diagnostic Tool is not Possible)

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (Proximity Sound (Vehicle Stationary)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
      VEHICLE PROXIMITY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the D108 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D108-11 (SFTP) - D104-15 (P2) Always Below 1 Ω
      D108-11 (SFTP) or D104-15 (P2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  10. INSPECT VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the vehicle approaching speaker assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the vehicle approaching speaker assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D108 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Disconnect the A48 vehicle approaching speaker assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D108-3 (SP+) - A48-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      D108-8 (SP-) - A48-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      D108-3 (SP+) or A48-1 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D108-8 (SP-) or A48-2 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A48-1 (+) - A48-2 (-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  12. CHECK STOP LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed, and go off when the brake pedal is released.

      OK

    Result:

    GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - ENGINE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D108 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Disconnect the A22 stop light switch assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the J21 radio setting condenser connector.
    4. Disconnect the O9 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
    5. Disconnect the O13 rear combination light assembly RH connector.
    6. Disconnect the W1 center stop light assembly connector.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D108-2 (STP) - A22-1 (OUT) Always Below 1 Ω
      D108-2 (STP) or A22-1 (OUT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D108 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Disconnect the D9 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D108-6 (SPD) - D9-9 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω
      D108-6 (SPD) or D9-9 (+S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  15. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the D108 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Reconnect the D9 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Check the input waveform.

      1. Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector(s) still connected.
      2. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal D9-9 (+S) and body ground.
      3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      4. Turn a wheel slowly.
      5. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.
        Item Condition
        Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.
        Vehicle condition Power switch on (IG), wheel being rotated

        The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows.

  16. CHECK ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY (INPUT SIGNAL) 
    1. Disconnect the D108 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      D108-12 (OPSW) - Body ground Idling* 8 V or higher

  17. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D108 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Disconnect the B35 engine oil pressure switch assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D108-12 (OPSW) - B35-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D108-12 (OPSW) or B35-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG

  18. INSPECT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the engine oil pressure switch assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

    REPLACE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY
