DTC THC_d0007: Radiator Bypass Valve Malfunction [09/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SWITCHING VALVE WAY - THERMAL CONTROL ECU)

    1. Disconnect connector D2 from the switching valve way.

    2. Disconnect connector L29 from the thermal control ECU.

    3. Disconnect connector L31 from the thermal control ECU.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D2-1 (CVREQ) - L31-17 (CVREQ) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      D2-3 (CVFDB) - L31-7 (CVFDB) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      D2-6 (VS+) - L29-15 (VS+) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      D2-4 (VS-) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      D2-1 (CVREQ) or L31-17 (CVREQ) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 1 kΩ or higher
      D2-3 (CVFDB) or L31-7 (CVFDB) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 1 kΩ or higher
      D2-6 (VS+) or L29-15 (VS+) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 1 kΩ or higher

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Switching Valve Way)

      (to Thermal Control ECU)
      *c Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Thermal Control ECU)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. REPLACE SWITCHING VALVE WAY 
    1. Replace the switching valve way. Refer to REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] .
    2. Connect the RAV4 EV diagnostic tool to the No. 2 DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    4. Turn the RAV4 EV diagnostic tool on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Thermal Test / Thermal System Test.
    6. Perform the "Thermal System Test" Active Test.
    7. Enter the following menus: DTCs.
    8. Read the alert codes.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Alert code is not output A
      THC_d0007 is output B

    B → See step   3 

    A → COMPLETED 

  3. REPLACE THERMAL CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ]
