DTC P170F-394: Shift Position Malfunction [09/2013 - ]: Description
The power management control ECU sends shift position request signals to the drive inverter ECU and receives shift position status signals from the drive inverter ECU via CAN communication. The power management control ECU compares the shift position request signal with the shift position status signal and outputs a DTC when they do not match. Also, the power management control ECU turns the power switch on (IG) to prevent the vehicle from moving in a situation where the vehicle may accidently move forward or reward.
