Pattern Select Switch Sport Mode Circuit [09/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed. A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed. B
    4. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    4. Check DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output A
      DTCs are output B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → GO TO DTC CHART 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test / Indicat. Sport(CVT Sport).
    4. Perform the "Indicat. Sport(CVT Sport)" Active Test.

      OK

      The SPORT indicator light blinks.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORT DRIVE SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV / Data List / Sport Drive Switch.
    4. Read the Data List.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Sport Drive Switch Sport mode switch condition/
      ON or OFF
      Sport mode switch being pushed and held: ON
      Sport mode switch not pushed: OFF

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The Techstream display changes according to the sport mode switch operation. A
      The Techstream display does not change according to the sport mode switch operation. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

  5. INSPECT SPORT MODE SWITCH (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the sport mode switch (pattern select switch). Refer to REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      6 (MSW1) - 3 (MSW2) Sport mode switch (pattern select switch) operated Below 1 Ω
      6 (MSW1) - 3 (MSW2) Sport mode switch (pattern select switch) not operated 10 kΩ or higher

      (Sport Mode Switch (Pattern Select Switch))
    3. Install the sport mode switch (pattern select switch).

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPORT MODE SWITCH (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect connector E127 from the sport mode switch (pattern select switch).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E127-3 (MSW2) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      (to Sport Mode Switch (Pattern Select Switch))
    3. Connect the sport mode switch (pattern select switch) connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPORT MODE SWITCH (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH) - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect connector E118 from the power management control ECU.
    2. Disconnect connector E127 from the sport mode switch (pattern select switch).
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E118-26 (SFTD) - E127-6 (MSW1) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      E118-26 (SFTD) or E127-6 (MSW1) - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      (to Power Management Control ECU)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sport Mode Switch (Pattern Select Switch))
    4. Connect the sport mode switch (pattern select switch) connector.
    5. Connect the power management control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   12 

  8. REPLACE SPORT MODE SWITCH (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH). Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 
  9. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [09/2013 - ] 
  10. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [09/2013 - ] 
  11. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 
  12. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ]
