Charging Indicator Circuit [09/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    4. Check DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → GO TO DTC CHART 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGE LIGHT STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV / Data List / Charge Light Status.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Result

      Tester Display Condition Charging Indicator Condition Normal Condition
      Charge Light Status Charging connector installed to electric vehicle charger inlet 2 charging indicators illuminate Valve Check

      OK

      Operation of the charging indicator matches the display of the Data List.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   9 

  3. INSPECT INDICATOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY (CHARGING INDICATOR) 
    1. Remove the indicator light assembly.
    2. Check the charging indicator.

      Result

      K30-1 (B) - K30-3 (CHG-) Auxiliary battery positive (+) → Terminal K30-1 (B) Auxiliary battery negative (-) → Terminal K30-3 (CHG-) Charging No. 1 indicator illuminates
      Auxiliary battery voltage is not applied between terminals K30-1 (B) and K30-3 (CHG-) Charging No. 1 indicator does not illuminate
      K30-4 (B) - K30-6 (E) Auxiliary battery positive (+) → Terminal K30-4 (B) Auxiliary battery negative (-) → Terminal K30-6 (E) Charging No. 2 indicator illuminates
      Auxiliary battery voltage is not applied between terminals K30-4 (B) and K30-6 (E) Charging No. 2 indicator does not illuminate

    3. Install the indicator light assembly.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FUSE (CHRG IND) 
    1. Remove the CHRG IND fuse from the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block).

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      CHRG IND fuse terminals Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Main Body ECU (Instrument Panel Junction Block)
      *2 CHRG IND Fuse
    3. Install the CHRG IND fuse.

    NG → CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - INDICATOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the connector K30 from the indicator light assembly.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      K30-1 (B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      K30-4 (B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

      (to Indicator Light Assembly)
    3. Connect the indicator light assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INDICATOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the connector K30 from the indicator light assembly.
    2. Disconnect connector A56 from the power management control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      K30-3 (CHG-) - A56-28 (SI1) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      K30-6 (E) - A56-33 (OPM1) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      K30-3 (CHG-) or A56-28 (SI1) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      K30-6 (E) or A56-33 (OPM1) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      (to Power Management Control ECU)
    4. Connect the power management control ECU connector.
    5. Connect the indicator light assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  7. REPLACE INDICATOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 
  8. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 
  9. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [09/2013 - ]
