DTC B1244: Light Sensor Circuit Malfunction [09/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2013 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2013 - ] .

      OK

      DTC B1244 output does not occur.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   8 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [09/2013 - ] .
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Illumination Rate Info Illumination rate information / 0 ms. to 2162.65 ms. Value output according to ambient light levels -

      OK

      Normal condition listed above is displayed.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the E16 main body ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the F2 automatic light control sensor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E16-14 (CLTE) - F2-3 (CLTE) Always Below 1 Ω
      E16-15 (CLTS) - F2-4 (CLTS) Always Below 1 Ω
      E16-16 (CLTB) - F2-1 (CLTB) Always Below 1 Ω
      E16-14 (CLTE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E16-15 (CLTS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E16-16 (CLTB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the main body ECU with the connectors still connected.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E16-16 (CLTB) - E16-14 (CLTE) Power switch off Below 1 V
      Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Main Body ECU [Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly])

    NG → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR 
    1. Check the automatic light control sensor. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [09/2013 - ] .

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 

  7. REPLACE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 
  8. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [09/2013 - ]
