Headlight (HI-BEAM) Circuit [09/2013 - ]: Procedure

1. Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [09/2013 - ] .
   MAIN BODY
   
   

   Tester Display	Test Part	Control Range	Diagnostic Note
   Head Light Hi	Headlight dimmer relay	ON/OFF	-

   OK

   High beam headlights come on.

NG → See step   2 

OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 

1. Remove the headlight dimmer relay from the No. 2 motor compartment room relay block and junction block.

2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

   Standard Resistance

   Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
   3 - 5	Battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2	Below 1 Ω
   3 - 5	Battery voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2	10 kΩ or higher

NG → REPLACE HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY (DRL NO. 1) 

OK: Go to next step 

1. Remove the headlight dimmer relay from the No. 2 motor compartment room relay block and junction block.

2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

   Standard Voltage

   Tester Connection	Switch Condition	Specified Condition
   Headlight dimmer relay terminal 5 - Body ground	Headlight dimmer switch in head position	11 to 14 V
   Headlight dimmer relay terminal 1 - Body ground
   Headlight dimmer relay terminal 5 - Body ground	Headlight dimmer switch in DRL OFF position	Below 1 V
   Headlight dimmer relay terminal 1 - Body ground

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

OK: Go to next step 

1. Remove the headlight dimmer relay from the No. 2 motor compartment room relay block and junction block.
2. Disconnect the E16 main body ECU connector.
3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

   Standard Resistance

   Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
   Headlight dimmer relay terminal 2 - E16-3 (DIM)	Always	Below 1 Ω
   E16-3 (DIM) - Body ground	Always	10 kΩ or higher

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

OK → See step   5
