DTC P0A82-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Cooling Fan 1 Performance / Stuck OFF [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTCS (HV) See step   1 

    B → See step   11 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DUCT AND BLOWER 
    1. Check that the front floor cover LH and battery cooling blower are not disconnected, damaged, or clogged with foreign matter, and that the acoustical materials have not peeled.

      *1 Front Floor Cover LH

      OK

      The duct and blower are not disconnected, damaged, or clogged with foreign matter and the acoustical materials have not peeled.

    NG → CORRECT THE PROBLEM 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY COOLING BLOWER - BATTERY SMART UNIT) See step   3 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY COOLING BLOWER - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect connector A38 from the power management control ECU. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] .
    3. Remove the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] - Step 4 .
    4. Disconnect connector M41 from the battery cooling blower assembly.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      M41-3 (SI0) or A38-29 (SI0) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      M41-3 (SI0) - A38-29 (SI0) Below 1 Ω

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Battery Cooling Blower Assembly)
      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Power Management Control ECU)
      NOTE:

      When taking a measurement with a tester, do not apply excessive force to the tester probe to avoid damaging the holder.

    6. Connect the battery cooling blower assembly connector.
    7. Install the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly.
    8. Connect the power management control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU (GROUND SHORT CHECK) 
    1. Remove the power management control ECU. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A38-29 (SI0) - G57-5 (E01) 10 kΩ or higher
      A38-29 (SI0) - G58-5 (E02) 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Power Management Control ECU)
    3. Install the power management control ECU.

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT (FREQUENCY) 
    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] - Step 4 .
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    4. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
      NOTE:
      • After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.
      • If the ignition switch is turned to on (IG) with the service plug grip removed, DTC P0A0D-350 for the interlock switch system will be stored. If this DTC is output, clear the DTC using the Techstream. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - ] .
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    7. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
      NOTE:

      When DTCs are cleared, freeze frame data and INF codes are also cleared.

    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Driving the Battery Cooling Fan.
    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / All Data / Cooling Fan Frequency 1.
    10. Select each air volume mode (1 to 6) in the "Driving the Battery Cooling Fan" Active Test to operate the battery cooling blower assembly.
    11. While the cooling fan is operating, compare the value in the data list (Cooling Fan Frequency 1) with the Frequency value that was actually measured at the battery cooling blower assembly connector.

      M41-2 (FP0) - M41-4 (GND0) Battery cooling blower is operating

      The value in the Data List (Cooling Fan Frequency 1) and the actual measurement value at the battery cooling blower assembly connector are 0 Hz. A
      The value in the Data List (Cooling Fan Frequency 1) and the actual measurement value at the battery cooling blower assembly connector are not 0 Hz. B
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON (IG) with the service grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

      HINT: 

      Compare the values in each air volume mode (1 to 6). If the active test cannot be performed, compare the values only in the current air volume mode.

    12. Turn the ignition switch off.
    13. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    14. Install the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly.

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT 
    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] - Step 4 .
    3. Disconnect connector M39 from the battery smart unit.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    5. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
      NOTE:
      • After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.
      • If the ignition switch is turned to on (IG) with the service plug grip removed, DTC P0A0D-350 for the interlock switch system will be stored. If this DTC is output, clear the DTC using the Techstream. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - ] .
    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    8. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
      NOTE:

      When DTCs are cleared, freeze frame data and INF codes are also cleared.

    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Driving the Battery Cooling Fan.
    10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / All Data / Cooling Fan Frequency 1.
    11. Select each air volume mode (1 to 6) in the "Driving the Battery Cooling Fan" Active Test to operate the battery cooling blower assembly.
    12. While the cooling fan is operating, measure the frequency on the wire harness side of the battery cooling blower assembly connector.

      The actual measured value at the battery cooling blower assembly connector remains 0 Hz. A
      The actual measured value at the battery cooling blower assembly connector is not 0 Hz. B
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON (IG) with the service grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

      HINT: 

      Compare the values in each air volume mode (1 to 6). If the active test cannot be performed, compare the values only in the current air volume mode.

    13. Turn the ignition switch off.
    14. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    15. Connect the battery cooling blower assembly connector.
    16. Install the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly.

    B → See step   9 

    A → See step   10 

  8. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT 
    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] - Step 4 .
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    4. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
      NOTE:
      • After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.
      • If the ignition switch is turned to on (IG) with the service plug grip removed, DTC P0A0D-350 for the interlock switch system will be stored. If this DTC is output, clear the DTC using the Techstream. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - ] .
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

    11. While the cooling fan is operating, compare the value in the data list (Cooling Fan Frequency 1) with the Frequency value that was actually measured at the battery cooling blower assembly connector.

      Difference between the value in the Data List (Cooling Fan Frequency 1) and the actual measurement value at the battery cooling blower assembly connector is 10% or less. A
      Difference between the value in the Data List (Cooling Fan Frequency 1) and the actual measurement value at the battery cooling blower assembly connector is more than 10%. B
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON (IG) with the service grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

      HINT: 

      Compare the values in each air volume mode (1 to 6). If the active test cannot be performed, compare the values only in the current air volume mode.

    12. Turn the ignition switch off.
    13. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    14. Install the rear seat cushion leg sub-assembly.

    A → See step   10 

  9. REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - ] 
  10. REPLACE BATTERY COOLING BLOWER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - ] 
  11. GO TO DTC CHART (P0AFC-123). Refer to  DTC P0AFC-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Sensor Module [12/2013 - ]  
  12. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - ]
