Transmission Control Switch Circuit [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORT SHIFT SWITCH STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
    5. In accordance with the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Sports Shift Up SW Sport shift up switch status ON or OFF
      • ON: Shift lever held in "+" (up-shift)
      • OFF: Shift lever not held in "+" (up-shift)

      Sports Shift Down SW Sport shift down switch status ON or OFF
      • ON: Shift lever held in "-" (down-shift)
      • OFF: Shift lever not held "-" (down-shift)

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [12/2013 - ]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector from transmission floor shift assembly.

      (to Transmission Control Switch)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F46-3 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F46-5 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

  4. INSPECT TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Measure the resistance between each terminal of the transmission control switch when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F46-3 (IG) - F46-7 (S) Shift lever in S, "+" or "-" Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in S, "+" or "-" 10 kΩ or higher
      F46-2 (SFTU) - F46-5 (E) Shift lever held in "+"
      (Up-shift)
      Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not held in "+" 10 kΩ or higher
      F46-1 (SFTD) - F46-5 (E) Shift lever held in "-"
      (Down-shift)
      Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not held in "-" 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH). Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - ]

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Connect the transmission control switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

      (to ECM)
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A43-27 (S) - Body ground
      • Ignition switch ON
      • Shift lever in S, "+" or "-"
      11 to 14 V
      A43-27 (S) - Body ground
      • Ignition switch ON
      • Shift lever not in S, "+" or "-"
      Below 1 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A43-42 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever held in "+"
      (Up-shift)
      Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not held in "+" 10 kΩ or higher
      A43-43 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever held in "-"
      (Down-shift)
      Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not held in "-" 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK
