DTC P0778: Pressure Control Solenoid "B" Electrical (Shift Solenoid Valve SL2) [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C1-13 (SL2+) - C1-12 (SL2-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      C1-13 (SL2+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C1-12 (SL2-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016]  Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ] 

    Result:  2

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the harness connector from the wiring harness connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C1-13 (SL2+) - C2-9 (SL2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      C1-12 (SL2-) - C2-8 (SL2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      C1-13 (SL2+) or C2-9 (SL2+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C1-12 (SL2-) or C2-8 (SL2-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (SL2) 
    1. Remove the wiring harness connector from the transaxle.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Transmission Wire)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-9 (SL2+) - A-8 (SL2-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      A-9 (SL2+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-8 (SL2-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 11/2016]  Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ] 

    Result:  2

    NG

  4. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 
    1. Remove shift solenoid valve SL2.

      *1 Shift Solenoid Valve SL2
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    3. Connect a battery positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.

      OK

      Valve moves and makes an operating sound.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - ] 

    Result:  2

    REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2013 - 08/2014]  Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2014 - 11/2016]  Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ]
