Inspection [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the front oil pump drive gear with 2 screwdrivers and check that it rotates smoothly.

      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the oil seal lip.

  2. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FRONT OIL PUMP AND GEAR BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Push the front oil pump driven gear to one side of the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

    2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.

      Standard Clearance

      0.075 to 0.145 mm (0.00296 to 0.00570 in.)

      Maximum Clearance

      0.145 mm (0.00570 in.)

      If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump body sub-assembly.

    3. Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

      Standard Side Clearance

      0.035 to 0.05 mm (0.00138 to 0.00196 in.)

      Maximum Side Clearance

      0.05 mm (0.00196 in.)

      FRONT OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR THICKNESS

      1 11.547 to 11.555 mm (0.4546 to 0.4549 in.)
      2 11.555 to 11.563 mm (0.4549 to 0.4552 in.)
      3 11.564 to 11.571 mm (0.4553 to 0.4556 in.)
      4 11.572 to 11.579 mm (0.4556 to 0.4559 in.)
      5 11.580 to 11.587 mm (0.4559 to 0.4562 in.)
      FRONT OIL PUMP DRIVEN GEAR THICKNESS

      Mark Thickness
      1 11.547 to 11.555 mm (0.4546 to 0.4549 in.)
      2 11.555 to 11.563 mm (0.4549 to 0.4552 in.)
      3 11.564 to 11.571 mm (0.4553 to 0.4556 in.)
      4 11.572 to 11.579 mm (0.4556 to 0.4559 in.)
      5 11.580 to 11.587 mm (0.4559 to 0.4562 in.)

      If the clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump body sub-assembly.

      HINT: 

      There are 5 different thicknesses for the front oil pump drive gear and front oil pump driven gear.

  3. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the front oil pump body bushing.

      Standard Inside Diameter

      43.135 to 43.16 mm (1.69823 to 1.69920 in.)

      Maximum Inside Diameter

      43.16 mm (1.69920 in.)

      If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

  4. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft assembly.

      Standard Inside Diameter

      22.500 to 22.526 mm (0.88583 to 0.88684 in.)

      Maximum Inside Diameter

      22.526 mm (0.88684 in.)

      If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the stator shaft assembly.
