DTC P161A-87: Lost Communication with Alternator Missing Message [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM 
    1. Check the charging system.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [11/2016 - ] 

      Result
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - GENERATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the C1 ECM connector.
    2. Disconnect the C81 generator assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C1-135 (LIN) - C81-2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      C1-135 (LIN) or C81-2 (LIN) - body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY.  Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
