DTC P2530-14: Ignition Switch Circuit Short to Ground or Open [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (IG SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Data List / IG Switch.

      Powertrain > Stop and Start > Data List 

      Tester Display
      IG Switch
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      Techstream Display Result Proceed to
      IG Switch ON A
      OFF B

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK.  Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU (IG2 RELAY)) 
    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector.
    2. Remove the semiconductor PWR integration ECU from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F123-18 (IG2) - 1F-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      F123-18 (IG2) or 1F-4 - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU (IG2 RELAY) 
    1. Inspect the IG2 relay.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2013 - ]

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU.  Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] .

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU - CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) OR IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the semiconductor PWR integration ECU from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    2. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector. (w/ Smart Key System)
    3. Disconnect the ignition or starter switch assembly connector. (w/o Smart Key System)
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      W/ SMART KEY SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1E-1 - F10-3 (IG1D) Always Below 1 Ω
      1E-1 or F10-3 (IG1D) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      W/O SMART KEY SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1E-1 - F50-3 (IG2) Always Below 1 Ω
      1E-1 or F50-3 (IG2) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU (EFI MAIN RELAY)) 
    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector.
    2. Remove the semiconductor PWR integration ECU from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A92-1 (+B) - 1G-8 Always Below 1 Ω
      A92-1 (+B) or 1G-8 - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  6. CHECK ECM (IGSW TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A43-4 (IGSW) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT.  Refer to ECM Power Source Circuit [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  7. INSPECT SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU (EFI MAIN RELAY) 
    1. Inspect the EFI MAIN relay.

      Refer to INSPECTION [12/2013 - ]

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU.  Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] .

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU (EFI MAIN RELAY) - ECM) 

    HINT: 

    If communication between the Techstream and vehicle is possible and SFI system data can be read 30 seconds after turning the ignition switch off a malfunction in the EFI MAIN relay circuit is suspected.

    1. Remove the semiconductor PWR integration ECU from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1G-6 - A43-46 (MREL) Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-6 or A43-46 (MREL) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Result Proceed to
      OK (w/ Smart Key System) A
      OK (w/o Smart Key System) B
      NG C

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  9. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) (IG1D TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

    (Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly))

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F10-3 (IG1D) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) Below 1 V
      Engine switch on (IG) 9 V or higher
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU.  Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY).  Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] .

  10. INSPECT IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the ignition or starter switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2016 - ]

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ENGINE STOP AND START ECU.  Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY.  Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] .
