DTC P0013: Camshaft Position "B" Actuator Circuit / Open (Bank 1); DTC P0023: Camshaft Position "B" Actuator Circuit / Open (Bank 2) [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ DTC OUTPUT (DTC P0013 OR P0023) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTC after recording the freeze frame data and DTC.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG) and wait 5 seconds or more.
    7. Turn the Techstream on.
    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    9. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0013 or P0023 is output A
      DTCs are not output B

    Result: 

    B 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [11/2016 - ] 

    Result: 

    A

  2. INSPECT CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT) 
    1. Inspect the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly (for exhaust camshaft).

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2016 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAM TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT) - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the cam timing oil control solenoid assembly (for exhaust camshaft) connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C75-1 - C1-33 (OE1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      C75-2 - C1-3 (OE1-) Always Below 1 Ω
      C74-1 - C1-32 (OE2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      C74-2 - C1-2 (OE2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      C75-1 or C1-33 (OE1+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C75-2 or C1-3 (OE1-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C74-1 or C1-32 (OE2+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C74-2 or C1-2 (OE2-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
