Interior Light Auto Cut Circuit [08/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK SYMPTOMS 
    1. Check symptoms.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      All the interior lights that receive power via the light cut relay do not illuminate. A
      Battery saving function does not operate. B

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT LIGHT CUT RELAY 
    1. Remove the light cut relay from the c1 light cut relay connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 Voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Light Cut Relay)

    NG → REPLACE LIGHT CUT RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DOME FUSE - LIGHT CUT RELAY) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c1-1 - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V
      c1-3 - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LIGHT CUT RELAY) 
    1. Install the light cut relay to the c1 light cut relay connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c1-5 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Light Cut Relay)

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (LIGHT CUT RELAY - EACH LIGHT) 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LIGHT CUT RELAY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the light cut relay from the c1 light cut relay connector.
    2. Disconnect the 3A instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c1-2 - 3A-23 Always Below 1 Ω
      c1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Instrument panel junction block assembly)
      - -

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3A-23 - MB-22 (DOMR) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   13 

    OK → See step   11 

  7. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
    5. Check that the relay operates.
      MAIN BODY

      OK

      Light auto cut relay operates.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → See step   11 

  8. INSPECT LIGHT CUT RELAY 
    1. Remove the light cut relay from the c1 light cut relay connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 Voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      (Light Cut Relay)

    NG → REPLACE LIGHT CUT RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LIGHT CUT RELAY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the 3A instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c1-2 - 3A-23 Always Below 1 Ω
      c1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] .
    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      3A-23 - MB-22 (DOMR) Always Below 1 Ω
      3A-23 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   13 

    OK → See step   12 

  11. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2013 - 12/2013]  
  12. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ] 
  13. REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2013 - ]
