DTC B1660/43: Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator Circuit Malfunction [10/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION 
    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      Result

      ON/OFF Indicator Illumination Proceed to
      Always ON A
      OFF B

      HINT: 

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [10/2013 - ] .

    B → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly and radio and display receiver assembly*1 or navigation ECU sub-assembly*2. Also check that the connectors that link the instrument panel wire and No. 2 instrument panel wire are properly connected.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connectors are not properly connected, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag ECU assembly and radio and display receiver assembly*1 or navigation ECU sub-assembly*2. Also disconnect the connectors that link the instrument panel wire and No. 2 instrument panel wire.
    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

      *1: for Radio and Display Type

      *2: for Navigation Receiver Type

    NG → REPLACE WIRE HARNESS 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Connect the connectors that link the instrument panel wire and No. 2 instrument panel wire.
    2. Connect the connector to the radio and display receiver assembly*1 or navigation ECU sub-assembly*2.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK

      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

      *1: for Radio and Display Type

      *2: for Navigation Receiver Type

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Connect the connector to the airbag ECU assembly.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    5. Clear the DTCs stored in memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2013 - ] .
    6. Turn the engine switch off.
    7. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    8. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2013 - ] .

      OK

      DTC B1660/43 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1660/43 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OPEN) 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. for Radio and Display Type:

      Disconnect the connector from the radio and display receiver assembly.

    4. for Navigation Receiver Type:

      Disconnect the connector from the navigation ECU sub-assembly.

    5. Using a service wire, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

  9. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly and radio and display receiver assembly*1 or navigation ECU sub-assembly*2. Also check that the connectors that link the instrument panel wire and No. 2 instrument panel wire are properly connected.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connectors are not properly connected, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag ECU assembly and radio and display receiver assembly*1 or navigation ECU sub-assembly*2. Also disconnect the connectors that link the instrument panel wire and No. 2 instrument panel wire.
    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

      *1: for Radio and Display Type

      *2: for Navigation Receiver Type

    NG → REPLACE WIRE HARNESS 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OPEN) 
    1. Connect the connectors that link the instrument panel wire and No. 2 instrument panel wire.

    2. Using a service wire, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  14. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR (SOURCE VOLTAGE) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

  15. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. for Radio and Display Type:

      Connect the connector to the radio and display receiver assembly.

    2. for Navigation Receiver Type:

      Connect the connector to the navigation ECU sub-assembly.

    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    5. Check the indicator according to the conditions in the table below.

      OK

  16. CHECK DTC

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Clear the DTCs stored in memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2013 - ] .
    4. Turn the engine switch off.
    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2013 - ] .

      OK

      DTC B1660/43 is not output.

      HINT:

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
