DTC P0AAE-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Air Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Low; DTC P0AAF-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Air Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit High [10/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTCS (HV) See step   1 

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the luggage compartment front trim cover. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] .
    3. Check the connections of the z11 connector of the battery voltage sensor.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    4. Install the luggage compartment front trim cover.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK INSTALLATION OF INLET AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the luggage compartment front trim cover. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] .
    3. Visually check the installation condition of the inlet air temperature sensor.

      OK

      The inlet air temperature sensor is installed in the correct location and its claws are engaged securely.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The inlet air temperature sensor is installed in the correct location and its claws are engaged securely A
      Claws are damaged. B
      Inlet air temperature sensor is not installed correctly, but claws are not damaged. C
    4. Install the luggage compartment front trim cover.

    B → See step   6 

    C → INSTALL PARTS CORRECTLY 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HV BATTERY (INLET AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the luggage compartment front trim cover. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] .
    3. Remove the rear seat side garnish LH. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] .
    4. Disconnect the J13 and z11 battery voltage sensor connectors.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z11-1 (TCO) - z11-7 (GCO) 0°C (32°F) 26.7 to 27.8 kΩ
      25°C (77°F) 9.9 to 10.1 kΩ
      40°C (104°F) 5.73 to 5.92 kΩ
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Battery Voltage Sensor)
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z11-1 (TCO) - J13-3 (IGCT) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-1 (TCO) - J13-6 (GND) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-7 (GCO) - J13-3 (IGCT) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-7 (GCO) - J13-6 (GND) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      z11-4 (TBO) - J13-3 (IGCT) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-4 (TBO) - J13-6 (GND) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-10 (GBO) - J13-3 (IGCT) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-10 (GBO) - J13-6 (GND) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-3 (TB1) - J13-3 (IGCT) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-3 (TB1) - J13-6 (GND) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-9 (GB1) - J13-3 (IGCT) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-9 (GB1) - J13-6 (GND) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-2 (TB2) - J13-3 (IGCT) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-2 (TB2) - J13-6 (GND) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z11-8 (GB2) - J13-3 (IGCT) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    8. Reconnect the J13 and z11 battery voltage sensor connectors.
    9. Install the rear seat side garnish LH.
    10. Install the luggage compartment front trim cover.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → See step   7 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INLET AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the luggage compartment front trim cover. Refer to REMOVAL [10/2013 - ] .
    3. Check the wire harness and connectors of the battery temperature sensor and inlet air temperature sensor for abnormalities by sight and touch.

      Specified Condition

      There are no open or short circuits in the wire harness and connectors. There are no short circuits to other wire harnesses.

      HINT: 

      Because the battery harness is not available as a supply part, if the harness cannot be repaired, replace the HV battery assembly.

    4. Install the luggage compartment front trim cover.

    NG → REPAIR HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   6 

  6. REPLACE HV BATTERY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [10/2013 - ] 
  7. REPLACE BATTERY VOLTAGE SENSOR. Refer to  COMPONENTS [10/2013 - ] 
  8. GO TO DTC CHART (P0AFC-123). Refer to  DTC P0AFC-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Sensor Module [10/2013 - ]
