Park / Neutral Position Switch: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the protrusions of the park/neutral position switch.

    2. Install the park/neutral position switch onto the control shaft with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Before installing the park/neutral position switch, remove any dirt or rust on the installation portion of the control shaft. Be sure to install the switch straight along the shaft while being careful not to deform the plate spring that supports the shaft. If the plate spring is deformed, the park/neutral position switch cannot be reinstalled correctly.
      • After installing the park/neutral position switch, confirm that the 2 protrusions on the switch are aligned.
    3. Install the transmission control shaft lever onto the control shaft with the nut and spring washer.

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

    4. Connect the park/neutral position switch connector.
  2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the transmission control cable onto the transmission control shaft lever with the nut.

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Before connecting the transmission control cable assembly, check that the park/neutral position switch and the shift lever are in N position.

  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER AND HOSE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  4. INSTALL BATTERY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 61
  5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 62
  6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

    1. When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to PRECAUTION .
  7. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH OPERATION  See step  1
  8. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION  . Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1
