Automatic Transaxle Assembly: Removal: Removal

NOTE:
If automatic transaxle parts are replaced, refer to Parts Replacement Compensation Table to determine if any additional operations are necessary. Refer to PRECAUTION .
- REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE
Refer to REMOVAL
- REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
- REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 10
- DISCONNECT BREATHER PLUG HOSE
- Disengage the clamp and disconnect the breather plug hose from the hose clamp.
- DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Disengage the clamp and disconnect the engine wire.
- Remove the bolt and separate the ground wire.
- Disengage the 3 clamps and disconnect the engine wire.
- Turn the lock lever and disconnect the connector from the TCM.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*1 Lock Lever - Disengage the 4 clamps and disconnect the engine wire.
- REMOVE TRANSFER STIFFENER PLATE RH . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 11 bolts and transaxle.
NOTE:
To prevent damage to the knock pins, do not pry between the transaxle and engine.
- Remove the 11 bolts and transaxle.
- REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
- Remove the torque converter from the automatic transaxle.
- REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 9
- REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
- Remove the 2 bolts, nut and front engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle.
- Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the stud bolt from the automatic transaxle.
- REMOVE TCM
- Remove the 2 bolts and TCM from the automatic transaxle.
- REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP
- REMOVE NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE
- Slide the hose clip and disconnect the No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose from the oil cooler tube union.
- REMOVE NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET HOSE
- REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET
- Remove the 5 bolts and 5 clamp brackets from the automatic transaxle.
- REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET
- Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle.
- REMOVE SPEEDOMETER DRIVEN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the bolt and speedometer driven hole cover from the automatic transaxle.
- Remove the O-ring from the speedometer driven hole cover.
- INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY . Refer to INSPECTION - Step 1
