Removal [12/2012 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE:

    Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

  3. DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH

    1. Remove the union bolt and gasket.
    2. Disconnect the flexible hose from the brake cylinder.
  4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Hold the rear disc brake cylinder slide pins and remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

      *a Hold
      *b Turn
  5. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD KIT 
    1. Remove the 2 disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.
  6. REMOVE REAR ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT 
    1. Remove the No. 1 anti-squeal shim and No. 2 anti-squeal shim from each rear disc brake pad.
  7. REMOVE PAD WEAR INDICATOR PLATE 
    1. Remove the pad wear indicator plates from the rear disc brake pads.
  8. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE 
    1. Remove the 2 pad support plates from the disc brake cylinder mounting.
  9. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder mounting from the rear axle.
  10. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN 
    1. Remove the rear No. 1 disc brake cylinder slide pin and rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin from the disc brake cylinder mounting.

      *2 Rear Disc Brake Rear Cylinder Slide Pin
  11. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the rear disc brake cylinder slide bush from the rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin.

      *a Protective tape

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the rear disc brake rear cylinder slide pin.

  12. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT 
    1. Remove the 2 rear disc brake bush dust boots from the disc brake cylinder mounting.

  13. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG 
    1. Remove the shoe adjusting hole plug from the rear disc.
  14. REMOVE REAR DISC 
    1. Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.

    2. Release the parking brake.
    3. Turn the shoe adjuster until the disc turns freely, and then remove the disc.

    4. Install the shoe adjusting hole plug to the rear disc.
