DTC CHG_f049: Invalid Charge Request [09/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. RECHARGE ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY (PROPER CHARGING CABLE AND PLUG) 
    1. Recharge the electric vehicle battery.

      HINT: 

      Properly recharge the vehicle using proper equipment, etc.

    2. Connect the RAV4 EV diagnostic tool to the No. 2 DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    4. Turn the RAV4 EV diagnostic tool on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Alert List.
    6. Read the alert codes.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      CHG_f049 is output A
      Alert code is not output B

    B → ALERT CODE CAUSED BY INVALID INPUT SIGNAL OR ABNORMAL COMMUNICATION SIGNAL (CHARGER OUTSIDE VEHICLE) 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER - EV CHARGER WITH CABLE INLET)

    1. Disconnect connector D4 from the electric vehicle charger.

    2. Disconnect connector jh4 from the EV charger with cable inlet.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D4-11 (PXIN) - jh4-1 Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      D4-5 (PLT) - jh4-2 Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      D4-11 (PXIN) or jh4-1 - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 1 kΩ or higher
      D4-5 (PLT) or jh4-2 - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 1 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Electric Vehicle Charger Assembly)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to EV Charger with Cable Inlet Sub-assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT EV CHARGER WITH CABLE INLET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:
    • Unexpected high voltage may be present.
    • Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    3. Check the voltage at the terminals in the inspection point in the electric vehicle battery assembly. Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2013 - ] .

    4. Disconnect connector jh4 from the EV charger with cable inlet.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      jh4-1 - j1-4 (PXIN) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      jh4-2 - j1-5 (PLT) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      j1-4 (PXIN) - jh4-3 Power switch off 2430 to 2970 Ω
      jh4-1 or j1-4 (PXIN) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 1 kΩ or higher
      jh4-2 or j1-5 (PLT) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 1 kΩ or higher

      (to Charging Connector)

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → See step   4 

  4. REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ] 
  5. REPLACE EV CHARGER WITH CABLE INLET SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2013 - ]
