DTC P0ABF-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Current Sensor Circuit; DTC P0AC1-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Current Sensor Circuit Low; DTC P0AC2-123: Hybrid Battery Pack Current Sensor Circuit High: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) See step   1 

    B → GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM) Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  . 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - BATTERY SMART UNIT) 
    NOTE:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair procedures, because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 hybrid vehicle battery carrier bracket sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 25 .
    3. Disconnect only the c1 connector of the battery smart unit.

    4. Disconnect the c4 battery current sensor connector from the hybrid battery junction block assembly.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c1-1 (IB) - c4-3 (IB) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      c1-6 (GIB) - c4-2 (GIB) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      c1-5 (VIB) - c4-1 (VIB) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c1-1 (IB) or c4-3 (IB) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      c1-6 (GIB) or c4-2 (GIB) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      c1-5 (VIB) or c4-1 (VIB) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      (to Battery Smart Unit)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Battery Junction Block Assembly)
    6. Connect the battery smart unit connector.
    7. Connect the battery current sensor connector to the hybrid battery junction block assembly.

      Install the No. 1 hybrid vehicle battery carrier bracket sub-assembly.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT (VIB VOLTAGE) 
    NOTE:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair procedures, because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 hybrid vehicle battery carrier bracket sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 25 .
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c1-5 (VIB) - c1-6 (GIB) Power switch on (IG) 4.6 to 5.4 V

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Battery Smart Unit)
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the service grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    8. Install the No. 1 hybrid vehicle battery carrier bracket sub-assembly.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair procedures, because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 hybrid vehicle battery carrier bracket sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 25 .
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c1-1 (IB) - c1-6 (GIB) Power switch on (IG) 2.46 to 2.54 V

      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the service grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    8. Install the No. 1 hybrid vehicle battery carrier bracket sub-assembly.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → See step   6 

  5. REPLACE HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  6. REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT. Refer to  COMPONENTS
