Park / Neutral Position Switch: Removal: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
  3. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 1
  4. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2
  5. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  6. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  7. SEPARATE EJECTOR TUBE  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 1
  8. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
  9. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 25
  10. REMOVE NO. 2 INLET AIR CLEANER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 27
  11. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 9
  12. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 29
  13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 30
  14. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Move the shift lever to N.
    2. While expanding the claws of the clip, remove the transmission control cable assembly and clip from the transmission cable bracket.

    3. Remove the nut and transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.

    4. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector and clamp.
    5. Remove the clip from the transmission control cable assembly.
    6. Remove the nut, washer and control shaft lever from the control shaft.

    7. Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch from the control shaft.

      NOTE:

      Before removing the park/neutral position switch, remove any dirt or rust on the installation portion of the control shaft. Be sure to remove the switch straight along the shaft while being careful not to deform the plate spring that supports the shaft. If the plate spring is deformed, the park/neutral position switch cannot be reinstalled correctly.
