Rear Sunshade Shift-linked Function does not Operate when Shift Lever is Moved to R Position: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      ENGINE

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Shift SW Status (R Range) PNP switch status / ON or OFF ON: Shift lever in R
      OFF: Shift lever not in R
      When the shift lever position displayed on the Techstream differs from the actual position, adjustment of the PNP switch or the shift cable may be incorrect.

      OK

      The Techstream display changes according to the shift position selected using the shift lever.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      Make sure the rear window shade assembly is raised before performing Active Test.

      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Reverse Gear Signal Reverse signal OFF/ON -

      OK

      The rear window shade assembly is lowered.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   7 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REVERSE SIGNAL) 
    1. Disconnect the J19 rear sunshade relay connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J19-2 (REV) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever in any position other than R 11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   6 

  4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). Refer to REMOVAL .

      (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)
      - -
    2. Disconnect the 3B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3B-38 - MB-23 (REV) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR SUNSHADE RELAY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3B-38 - J19-2 (REV) Always Below 1 Ω
      J19-2 (REV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   7 

  6. REPLACE REAR SUNSHADE RELAY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. GO TO SFI SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  9. REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
