Speaker Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the E1 and E2 radio and display receiver assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the E11 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    3. Disconnect the D47 and D1 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the F6 and G6 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the H3 and I3 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the K13 and K16 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Measure the resistance between the radio and display receiver assembly and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-1 (FR+) - E11-2 (SPI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-5 (FR-) - E11-3 (SPI-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assembly RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E11-5 (SPO+) - D47-4 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E11-6 (SPO-) - D47-2 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assembly RH and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness (w/o Manual (SOS) Switch).

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-1 (FR+) - D47-4 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-5 (FR-) - D47-2 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    10. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assembly LH and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-2 (FL+) - D1-4 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-6 (FL-) - D1-2 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    11. Measure the resistance between the front No. 1 speaker assembly RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E11-5 (SPO+) - F6-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E11-6 (SPO-) - F6-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    12. Measure the resistance between the front No. 1 speaker assembly RH and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness (w/o Manual (SOS) Switch).

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-1 (FR+) - F6-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-5 (FR-) - F6-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    13. Measure the resistance between the front No. 1 speaker assembly LH and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-2 (FL+) - G6-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-6 (FL-) - G6-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    14. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E2-1 (RR+) - H3-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-3 (RR-) - H3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-2 (RL+) - I3-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-6 (RL-) - I3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    15. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and the radio and display receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E2-1 (RR+) - K13-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-3 (RR-) - K13-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-2 (RL+) - K16-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-6 (RL-) - K16-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    16. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D47-4 (TWR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D47-2 (TWR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D1-4 (TWL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D1-2 (TWL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    17. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F6-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F6-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G6-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G6-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    18. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H3-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H3-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I3-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I3-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    19. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K13-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K13-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K16-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K16-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    20. Measure the resistance between the radio and display receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E1-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (TWR+) - 2 (TWR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      4 (TWL+) - 2 (TWL-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *A for RH
      *B for LH
      *a Component without harness connected
      (Front No. 2 Speaker Assembly)

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → END (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear No. 2 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 - 2 Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      (Rear No. 2 Speaker Assembly)

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   7

  7. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1 - 2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    3. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  8. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      2 (SPI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  9. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  11. REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  13. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  14. REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
