Mute Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Telematics Transceiver: Procedure

  1. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E11-17 (MUTE) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC), audio system is playing
      → Emergency call mode
      3.5 V or higher
      → Below 1 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (DCM - Telematics Transceiver)

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   4 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - DCM - TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the E1 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the E11 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-8 (TMUT) - E11-17 (MUTE) Always Below 1 Ω
      E1-8 (TMUT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the E1 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E11-17 (MUTE) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 3.5 V or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to DCM - Telematics Transceiver)

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → See step   6 

  4. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  5. REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL
