Headlight (HI-BEAM) Circuit: Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY)
- Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Head Light Hi Headlight dimmer relay ON/OFF - OK
Relay operates (high beam headlights illuminate).

OK → See step 5
- Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

- INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY (H-LP HI)
- Remove the headlight dimmer relay from the engine room relay block, junction block.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher Battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
NG → REPLACE HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY [H-LP HI])
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT DIMMER RELAY [H-LP HI] - MAIN BODY ECU)
- Remove the main body ECU. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Headlight dimmer relay terminal 1 - A-22 (DIM) Always Below 1 Ω A-22 (DIM) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK → See step 5
