Malfunction in Water Temperature Warning Light: Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (COOLANT HOT)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test:
Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Water Temperature Meter Operation Engine coolant temperature warning light and indicator light LOW: Engine coolant temperature indicator light illuminates.
NORMAL: Both engine coolant temperature warning light and indicator light turn off.
HIGH: Engine coolant temperature warning light flashes.- Indicat. Lamp Coolant Cool Engine coolant temperature indicator light OFF/ON Vehicle is stopped and engine is idling Indicat. Lamp Coolant Hot Engine coolant temperature indicator light OFF/ON Vehicle is stopped and engine is idling OK
Both the engine coolant temperature warning light and indicator light are operated in accordance with the tester instructions.

- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (COOLANT TEMP)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.
- Select the item below from the Data List, and read the value displayed on the Techstream.
Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List:
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Coolant Temperature Engine coolant temperature / Min.: 0°C, Max.: 127.5°C After warming up: 75 to 105°C (167 to 221°F) - HINT:
- If the value is 0°C (32°F), the sensor circuit is open.
- If the value is 127.5°C (262°F), the sensor circuit is shorted.
OK
Coolant temperature displayed on the tester is between 75°C (167°F) and 105°C (221°F) after warming up.
