DTC 81: Buckle Failure: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POSITION CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the R6 rear seat 3 point type belt assembly RH connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R6-1 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      R6-2 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Rear Seat 3 Point Type Belt Assembly RH))
    3. Reconnect the rear seat 3 point type belt assembly RH connector.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the rear seat 3 point type belt assembly RH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 4 Tongue plate unfastened 10 kΩ or higher
      Tongue plate fastened Below 1 Ω
      2 - 4 Tongue plate unfastened Below 1 Ω
      Tongue plate fastened 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Rear Seat 3 point Type Belt Assembly RH)
    3. Reinstall the rear seat 3 point type belt assembly RH.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSEMBLY RH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the R6 rear seat 3 point type belt assembly RH connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R6-4 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Rear Seat 3 Point Type Belt Assembly RH))
    3. Reconnect the rear seat 3 point type belt assembly RH connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   6 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POSITION CONTROL ECU - REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the Q3 position control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the R6 rear seat 3 point type belt assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q3-9 (BKL) - R6-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q3-9 (BKL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q3-16 (BKLO) - R6-1 Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q3-16 (BKLO) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      R6-4 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Reconnect the rear seat 3 point type belt assembly RH connector.
    5. Reconnect the position control ECU assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   7 

  5. REPLACE REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  7. REPLACE POSITION CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY
