DTC B15BB: Multi-media Interface ECU Malfunction: Procedure

  1. REPLACE "iPod" OR USB DEVICE 
    1. Disconnect the USB device or "iPod" from the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly.
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

      HINT: 

      When one of these DTCs has been stored, is necessary to turn off the ignition switch to make it possible for the vehicle to recognize a new device when it is connected.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ACC.
    4. Connect a known good USB device or "iPod" to the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly.

      HINT: 

      If the malfunction occurred when a USB device was in use, use another USB device for the inspection. If the malfunction occurred when an "iPod" was in use, use another "iPod" for the inspection.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. RECHECK DTC 
    1. Recheck DTCs and check if the same DTC occurs again.

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → USB DEVICE OR "iPod" WAS DEFECTIVE 

  4. INSPECT MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU 
    1. Disconnect the D128 No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D128-1 - D128-4 Always 5 V

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to No. 1 Stereo Jack Adapter Assembly)

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE NO. 1 STEREO JACK ADAPTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU - STEREO JACK ADAPTER) 
    1. Disconnect the D129 multi-media interface ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the D128 No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D129-1 - D128-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D129-4 - D128-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      D129-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D129-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   7 

  7. REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
