Parking Brake Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY (DISPLAY CHECK MODE) 
    1. Enter the "Display Check" mode and select "Vehicle Signal Check". Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

    2. Check that the display changes between ON and OFF according to the parking brake operation.

      OK

      Parking Brake Position Display
      Applied ON
      Released OFF

      HINT: 

      This display is updated once per second. As a result, it is normal for the display to lag behind the actual change in the switch.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   4 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER - PARKING BRAKE SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the D55 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A3 parking brake switch assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      D55-1 (PKB) - A3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D55-1 (PKB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the parking brake switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - Body ground Parking brake switch ON (Switch pin released) Below 1 Ω
      Parking brake switch OFF (Switch pin pushed in) 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Parking Brake Switch Assembly)

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → See step   4 

  4. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  5. REPLACE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
