DTC P3107-213: Lost Communication with Airbag System Control Module: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) 
    1. Connect an oscilloscope between the airbag ECU assembly terminals specified in the table below.
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. Measure the waveform.

      Item Contents
      Terminal L16-14 (GSW2) - L16-25 (E1)
      Equipment Setting 5V/DIV., 500ms/DIV.
      Condition Power switch on (READY)

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The waveform appears as shown in the illustration above (Fig 1). A
      The waveform differs from the one shown in the illustration above (Fig 1). B

    4. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CLEAR DTC. Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 4 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P3107-213 is not output. A
      DTC P3107-213 is output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect connector L16 from the airbag ECU assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L16-14 (GSW2) - L16-25 (E1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Airbag ECU Assembly)
    3. Connect the airbag ECU assembly connector.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect connector L5 from the power management control ECU.
    2. Disconnect connector L16 from the airbag ECU assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L5-29 (ABFS) or L16-14 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Power Management Control ECU)
      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Airbag ECU Assembly)
    4. Connect the airbag ECU assembly connector.
    5. Connect the power management control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  8. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  9. REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  10. GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
