DTC P0ADC-226: Hybrid Battery Positive Contactor Control Circuit High: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SMRB STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / SMRB Status.
    4. Read the Data List.

      OK

      Tester Display Switch Condition Specified Condition
      SMRB Status Power switch on (IG) OFF
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the power management control ECU connectors. Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE .

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the upper hybrid battery cover sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19 .
    3. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the hybrid battery junction block assembly connector. Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE .

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

    4. Install the upper hybrid battery cover sub-assembly.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK → See step   11 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SMRB VOLTAGE) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L5-4 (SMRB) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

      (Power Management Control ECU)
    3. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the power management control ECU connectors. Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE .

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK → See step   12 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect connector L5 from the power management control ECU.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L5-4 (SMRB) - Body ground Power switch off 19.0 to 35.5 Ω

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Power Management Control ECU)
    3. Connect the power management control ECU connector.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY WIRES) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the IGCT NO. 2 and AM2 fuses from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

      *1 Engine Room Relay Block and Junction Block Assembly
      *2 AM2 fuse
      *3 IGCT NO. 2 fuse
    3. Remove the upper hybrid battery cover sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19 .
    4. Disconnect connector c3 from the hybrid battery junction block assembly.
    5. Disconnect all the connectors from the power management control ECU.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L5-4 (SMRB) - A21-2 (+B2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-4 (SMRB) - A22-5 (+B1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-4 (SMRB) - L5-1 (AM22) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-4 (SMRB) - L6-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-4 (SMRB) - A22-6 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-4 (SMRB) - A22-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-4 (SMRB) - L6-1 (ACCD) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-4 (SMRB) - L6-2 (IG1D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-4 (SMRB) - A22-2 (IG2D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    7. Connect the power management control ECU connectors.
    8. Connect the hybrid battery junction block assembly connector.
    9. Install the upper hybrid battery cover sub-assembly.
    10. Install the IGCT NO. 2 and AM2 fuses.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   12 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the upper hybrid battery cover sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19 .
    3. Disconnect connector c3 from the hybrid battery junction block assembly.
    4. Disconnect connector L5 from the power management control ECU.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L5-4 (SMRB) - c3-4 (SMRB) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L5-4 (SMRB) and c3-4 (SMRB) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    6. Connect the power management control ECU connector.
    7. Connect the hybrid battery junction block assembly connector.
    8. Install the upper hybrid battery cover sub-assembly.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY- BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the upper hybrid battery cover sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19 .
    3. Disconnect connector c3 from the hybrid battery junction block assembly.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      c3-2 (GND) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω

    5. Connect the hybrid battery junction block assembly connector.
    6. Install the upper hybrid battery cover sub-assembly.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. INSPECT HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the hybrid battery junction block assembly. Refer to COMPONENTS .
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      c3-4 (SMRB) - c3-2 (GND) -40 to 80 °C (-40 to 176°F) 19.0 to 35.5 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Hybrid Battery Junction Block Assembly
    4. Install the hybrid battery junction block assembly.

    NG → See step   13 

    OK → See step   11 

  11. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  12. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  13. REPLACE HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS
