Pattern Select Switch ECO Mode Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK). See step   2 

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK). See step   3 

    B → GO TO DTC CHART 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (INDICAT. ECO MODE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test / Indicat. ECO Mode.
    4. Perform the "Indicat. ECO MODE" Active Test.

      OK

      The ECO MODE indicator lamp comes on or blinks.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ECO MODE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / ECO Mode.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      ECO Mode ECO mode transition availability/
      ON or OFF
      In ECO mode: ON

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The Techstream display changes according to the ECO switch operation. A
      The Techstream display does not changes according to the ECO switch operation. B

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ECO SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioning / Data List / ECO Switch.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      ECO Switch ECO switch condition/
      ON or OFF
      ECO switch being pushed and held: ON
      ECO switch not pushed: OFF

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The Techstream display changes according to the ECO switch operation. A
      The Techstream display does not changes according to the ECO switch operation. B

  6. CHECK COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (ECO SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the combination switch assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L128-5 (ECU) - L128-3 (E) ECO switch being pushed and held Below 1 Ω
      ECO switch not pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Combination Switch Assembly)
    3. Install the combination switch assembly.

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND). See step   7 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect connector L17 from the air conditioning amplifier assembly.
    2. Disconnect connector L128 from the combination switch assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L17-15 (ECOS) - L128-5 (ECU) Always Below 1 Ω
      L17-15 (ECOS) or L128-5 (ECU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Combination Switch Assembly)
    4. Connect the combination switch assembly connector.
    5. Connect the air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   13 

  9. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  10. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  11. REPLACE METER CIRCUIT PLATE. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  12. REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  13. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS
