DTC B2342: Switch Failure: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ROOF SUNSHADE SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Sliding Roof / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      SLIDING ROOF (ROOF SUNSHADE ECU (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY))

      OFF: Roof sunshade open signal not fail (Past)

      Close Switch Failure (Past) Close switch failure signal (Past)/ON or OFF ON: Roof sunshade close signal failure (Past)
      OFF: Roof sunshade close signal not fail (Past)

      OK

      "OFF" appears on the Techstream screen.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   4 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ROOF SUNSHADE ECU - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the z21 roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the U3 roof sunshade switch (map light assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z21-7 (OPN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      z21-9 (CLS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT ROOF SUNSHADE SWITCH (MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the roof sunshade switch (map light assembly). Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      8 (CLS) - 15 (GND1) CLOSE switch is pressed Below 1 Ω
      8 (CLS) - 15 (GND1) CLOSE switch is not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
      9 (OPN) - 15 (GND1) OPEN switch is pressed Below 1 Ω
      9 (OPN) - 15 (GND1) OPEN switch is not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Roof Sunshade Switch (Map Light Assembly))

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → See step   4 

  4. REPLACE ROOF SUNSHADE ECU (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  5. REPLACE ROOF SUNSHADE SWITCH (MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL
