Hazard Warning Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Hazard Flasher Switch Hazard warning signal switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Hazard warning signal switch on
      OFF: Hazard warning signal switch off
      -

      OK

      The display is as specified in the normal condition column.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK B

    B → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the hazard warning signal switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3 (F) - 5 (E) Hazard warning switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      Hazard warning switch on Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Hazard Warning Signal Switch Assembly)

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH - COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the L27 combination meter sub-assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L57-3 (F) - L27-4 (HAZ) Always Below 1 Ω
      L57-5 (E) - Body Ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L57-3 (F) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   5 

  4. REPLACE HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  5. REPLACE METER CIRCUIT PLATE. Refer to  REMOVAL
