Hazard Warning Switch Circuit: Procedure
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
- Read the display on the Techstream.COMBINATION METER
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Hazard Flasher Switch Hazard warning signal switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Hazard warning signal switch on
OFF: Hazard warning signal switch off- OK
The display is as specified in the normal condition column.
Result
Result Proceed to NG A OK B
B → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
A: Go to next step
- INSPECT HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Remove the hazard warning signal switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 3 (F) - 5 (E) Hazard warning switch off 10 kΩ or higher Hazard warning switch on Below 1 Ω TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Component without harness connected

OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH - COMBINATION METER SUB-ASSEMBLY)
- Disconnect the L27 combination meter sub-assembly connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition L57-3 (F) - L27-4 (HAZ) Always Below 1 Ω L57-5 (E) - Body Ground Always Below 1 Ω Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition L57-3 (F) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK → See step 5
- REPLACE HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE METER CIRCUIT PLATE. Refer to REMOVAL
