DTC B1451/51: Compressor Solenoid Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn Techstream main switch on.
    3. Select the items below in the Data List, and read the value displayed on Techstream.
      DATA LIST / AIR CONDITIONER

      Min.: 0 A
      Max.: 0.997 A
      Value changes between 0 A and 0.997 A in accordance with compressor operation -

      OK

      The display is as specified in the normal condition column.

  2. CONFIRM MODEL

  3. INSPECT COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH 
    1. Disconnect the compressor and magnetic clutch connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B65-2 (SOL+) - B65-1 (SOL-) 25°C (77°F) 10.1 to 11.1 Ω

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER) 
    1. Disconnect the B65 compressor and magnetic clutch connector.

    2. Disconnect the D37 amplifier connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B65-2 (SOL+) - D37-2 (SOL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      B65-2 (SOL+) - Body Ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the B65 compressor and magnetic clutch connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B65-1 (SOL-) - Body Ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   10 

  6. INSPECT COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY WITH PULLEY 
    1. Disconnect the compressor assembly with pulley connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B65-2 (SOL+) - B65-1 (SOL-) 25°C (77°F) 10.1 to 11.1 Ω

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY WITH PULLEY - A/C AMPLIFIER) 
    1. Disconnect the compressor assembly with pulley connector.

    2. Disconnect the A/C amplifier connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D37-2 (SOL+) - B65-2 (SOL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      D37-2 (SOL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY WITH PULLEY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the compressor assembly with pulley connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B65-1 (SOL-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   10 

  9. PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  10. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER. Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 6 
  11. REPLACE COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. REPLACE COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY WITH PULLEY. Refer to  REMOVAL
