DTC P2603-768: Oil Pump Control Circuit High: Procedure

  1. CHECK FUSE (OIL PMP) 
    1. Remove the OIL PMP fuse from the engine room relay block No. 3.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      OIL PMP fuse Always Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Engine Room Relay Block No. 3
      *2 OIL PMP Fuse
    3. Install the OIL PMP fuse.

    NG → REPLACE FUSE (OIL PMP) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK RELAY (OIL PMP) 
    1. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room relay block No. 3.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 151 to 203 Ω
      3 - 5 Auxiliary battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      Auxiliary battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
    3. Install the OIL PMP relay.

    NG → REPLACE RELAY (OIL PMP) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY - OIL PUMP) 
    1. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room relay block No. 3.
    2. Disconnect the A48 connector from the oil pump with motor assembly.
    3. Disconnect the A65 connector from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      OIL PMP relay terminal 1 - A65-1 (OPM2) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      OIL PMP relay terminal 1 or A65-1 (OPM2) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      *a Component without OIL PMP relay connected
      (Engine Room Relay Block No. 3)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Oil Pump with Motor Assembly)
      *c Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      OIL PMP relay terminal 5 - A48-4 (L) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      OIL PMP relay terminal 5 or A48-4 (L) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    6. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    7. Connect the oil pump with motor assembly connector.
    8. Install the OIL PMP relay.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP) 
    1. Disconnect the A48 connector from the oil pump with motor assembly.
    2. Disconnect the A65 connector from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A48-2 (OPST) or A65-34 (OPST) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Oil Pump with Motor Assembly)
      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A48-2 (OPST) - A65-34 (OPST) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
    7. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    8. Connect the oil pump with motor assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Enter inspection mode. Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE .

      HINT: 

      Entering inspection mode activates the oil pump with motor assembly.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A65-1 (OPM2) - D72-6 (E1) Inspection mode
      Ignition switch ON (READY)
      11 to 14 V

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A65-34 (OPST) - A66-5 (+B1) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   7 

  6. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. REPLACE OIL PUMP WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
