DTC P2601-778: Oil Pump Control Circuit Range / Performance: Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- CHECK AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR
HINT:
The ambient temperature sensor value is used to detect DTC P2601-778. Check that the ambient temperature sensor operates normally, because P2601-778 may be mistakenly detected due to a malfunction in the ambient temperature sensor.
- Following the troubleshooting procedures for the ambient temperature sensor, check that the ambient temperature sensor operates normally. Refer to INSPECTION .
NG → See step 5
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK OIL PIPE
- Check that there is no clogging in the pipes among the oil pump with motor assembly, oil cooler, and hybrid vehicle transaxle.
NG → CORRECT THE PROBLEM
OK: Go to next step
- CLEAR DTC
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
- Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
- Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
NEXT: Go to next step
- CHECK OIL PUMP WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Enter inspection mode. Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE
.
HINT:
Entering inspection mode activates the oil pump with motor assembly.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
- Check if DTCs are output.
Result
Result Proceed to P2601-778 is not output. A P2061-778 is output. B HINT:
- If the vehicle is driven at high loads when it is cold, the temperature of the motor generator might increase until it reaches the operating temperature of the oil pump with motor assembly. This temperature increase of the motor generator could happen before the temperature of the ATF goes up.
When this DTC is stored as a result of the above conditions, it is not necessary to replace the oil pump with motor assembly as it is not malfunctioning. However, the DTC is stored because the detection conditions of the DTC have been met.
- When ATF whose low temperature viscosity is higher than ATF-WS is used, DTC P2601-778 might be output.
- If the vehicle is driven at high loads when it is cold, the temperature of the motor generator might increase until it reaches the operating temperature of the oil pump with motor assembly. This temperature increase of the motor generator could happen before the temperature of the ATF goes up.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
B → See step 6
A → COMPLETED
- REPLACE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE OIL PUMP WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL
