DTC P0ADB-227: Hybrid Battery Positive Contactor Control Circuit Low; DTC P0ADC-226: Hybrid Battery Positive Contactor Control Circuit High: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK) 
    1. Disconnect connector D72 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D72-4 (SMRB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D72-4 (SMRB) - Body ground Ignition switch off 19.0 to 35.5 Ω
    6. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Malfunction does not occur. A
      Malfunction occurs. B

    B → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the battery cover sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    3. Disconnect connector z20 from the hybrid battery junction block assembly.
    4. Disconnect connector D72 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the hybrid vehicle control ECU and hybrid battery junction block assembly connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D72-4 (SMRB) and z20-4 (SMRB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D72-4 (SMRB) - z20-4 (SMRB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      D72-4 (SMRB) and z20-4 (SMRB) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    9. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    10. Connect the hybrid battery junction block assembly connector.
    11. Install the battery cover sub-assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the battery cover sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    3. Disconnect connector z20 from the hybrid battery junction block assembly.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      z20-2 (GND) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
    5. Connect the hybrid battery junction block assembly connector.
    6. Install the battery cover sub-assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
