Pattern Select Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 

    HINT: 

    ECUs that are correctly connected to the CAN communication system can be displayed on the Techstream.

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed. A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed (w/ Smart Key System). B
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed (w/o Smart Key System). C

    B → See step   6 

    C → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ALL DTC CODE) 
    1. Check for DTCs of all systems by following the prompts on the Techstream screen.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs other than hybrid control system DTCs are output. B

    B → GO TO DTC CHART 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (METER) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test / Indicat. ECO.
    2. Check the condition of the pattern select indicator light (ECON mode light) by operating the Techstream.
      OK:

      Indicat. ECO Pattern select indicator light (ECON mode light) ON or OFF -

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The ECON mode light comes on. A
      The ECON mode light does not come on. B

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (ECON MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the pattern select switch assembly (ECON mode switch) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      9 (2ND) - 6 (E) ECON mode switch on Below 1 Ω
      9 (2ND) - 6 (E) ECON mode switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Pattern Select Switch Assembly (ECON Mode Switch))

    NG → REPLACE PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (ECON MODE SWITCH) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Connect the pattern select switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect connector D73 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D73-27 (ECO) - Body ground ECON mode switch on Below 1 Ω
      D73-27 (ECO) - Body ground ECON mode switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  7. GO TO METER SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
