DTC P0A32-666: Drive Motor "B" Temperature Sensor Circuit Low; DTC P0A33-665: Drive Motor "B" Temperature Sensor Circuit High: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) See step   3 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR MOTOR TEMP) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
    4. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      -40°F (-40°C) A
      419°F (215°C) B
      Same as actual temperature C
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   5 

    C → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHECK FOR OPEN) 
    1. Disconnect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.

    2. Connect terminals 1 (RMT) and 3 (RMTG) of the vehicle side connector of the rear motor temperature sensor.

    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
    6. Read the Data List.

      OK

      Tester Display Condition Specified Condition
      Rear Motor Temp Terminals RMT and RMTG connected, ignition switch ON 419°F (215°C)

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Rear Motor Temperature Sensor)

      HINT: 

      The rear motor temperature sensor is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Connect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   9 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - REAR MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Connect terminals 22 (RMT) and 23 (RMTG) of connector A65 of the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
    5. Read the Data List.

      OK

      Tester Display Condition Specified Condition
      Rear Motor Temp Terminals RMT and RMTG connected, ignition switch ON 419°F (215°C)
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    6. Turn the ignition switch off.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHECK FOR SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.

    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
    5. Read the Data List.

      OK

      Tester Display Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Rear Motor Temp Ignition switch ON -40°F (-40°C)

      HINT: 

      The rear motor temperature sensor is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Connect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   9 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - REAR MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect connector A65 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      j6-1 (RMT) - A65-22 (RMT) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      j6-3 (RMTG) - A65-23 (RMTG) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      j6-1 (RMT) or A65-22 (RMT) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      j6-3 (RMTG) or A65-23 (RMTG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    4. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Connect the rear motor temperature sensor connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  7. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. REPLACE REAR TRACTION MOTOR WITH TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
