DTC P0A1A-200: Generator Control Module; DTC P0A1A-792: Generator Control Module; DTC P0A1A-793: Generator Control Module: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0A1A-200, 792, or 793 only is output. A

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, confirm that it is properly connected by checking that the locking claws are engaged and that the connector cannot be pulled out.

    2. Check the connection of the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

      HINT: 

      When connecting the connector, insert it with the locking lever in the raised position. Rotate the lever downward and make sure that the connector is pulled into its socket. When the locking lever is in its fully closed position, a click will be heard as its locking claws engage. After the click is heard, pull up on the connector to confirm that it is properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - GENERATOR RESOLVER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector B58 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Connect the low voltage connector to the inverter with converter assembly.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK GENERATOR RESOLVER 
    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector B58 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

    3. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - MOTOR RESOLVER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector B58 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector B58 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    3. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - REAR MOTOR RESOLVER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector A64 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK REAR MOTOR RESOLVER 
    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector A64 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

    3. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (GENERATOR RESOLVER CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the generator resolver connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (MOTOR RESOLVER CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the motor resolver connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (REAR MOTOR RESOLVER CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the rear motor resolver connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK → See step   19 

  12. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (GENERATOR RESOLVER CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the generator resolver connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - GENERATOR RESOLVER) 
    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector B58 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Disconnect the generator resolver connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      The generator resolver is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    4. Connect the generator resolver connector.
    5. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   20 

  14. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (MOTOR RESOLVER CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the motor resolver connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - MOTOR RESOLVER) 
    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector B58 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Disconnect the motor resolver connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      HINT: 

      The motor resolver is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    4. Connect the motor resolver connector.
    5. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   20 

  16. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (REAR MOTOR RESOLVER CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the rear motor resolver connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  17. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - REAR MOTOR RESOLVER) 
    1. Disconnect the low voltage connector A64 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    2. Disconnect the rear motor resolver connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      j7-4 (RRFG) - A64-23 (RRFG) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

    4. Connect the rear motor resolver connector.
    5. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   21 

  18. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  19. REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  20. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  21. REPLACE REAR TRACTION MOTOR WITH TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
