DTC P0851-775: Park / Neutral Switch Input Circuit Low: Procedure

- CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
- Check if DTCs are output.
Result
Result Proceed to P0851-775 only is output. A P0705-757 is also output. B - Turn the ignition switch off.

- CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A66-12 (N) - Body ground Shift lever in N 11 to 14 V A66-12 (N) - Body ground Shift lever not in N 1.2 to 2.8 V TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Component with harness connected
(Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU) - Turn the ignition switch off.
NG → See step 4
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
- Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
OK → See step 7
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
- Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(to Shift Lever Position Sensor)NOTE:Turning the ignition switch to ON with the shift lever position sensor connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Connect the shift lever position sensor connector.
NG → CHECK AND REPAIR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR
- Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR. Refer to REMOVAL
