DTC P0705-758: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0705-758 only is output. A
      P0705-757 is also output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A66-16 (MJ) - Body ground Shift lever in P, R, N, D or B 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   7 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B50-8 (+B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Shift Lever Position Sensor)
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the shift lever position sensor connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Connect the shift lever position sensor connector.

    NG → CHECK AND REPAIR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B50-8 (+B) - B50-5 (MJ) Shift lever in P, R, N, D or B Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Lever Position Sensor)
    3. Connect the shift lever position sensor connector.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  7. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. REPLACE SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL
