DTC P0343-747: Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit High Input: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT/ Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Engine control system DTCs are not output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are output. B
      DTC No. Relevant Diagnosis
      P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
      P0342 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Low Input (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)
      P0343 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit High Input (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)
      P0345 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit (Bank 2)
      P0347 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Low Input (Bank 2)
      P0348 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit High Input (Bank 2)
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   13 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      None of the following DTCs are output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are output. B
      DTC No. Relevant Diagnosis
      P0A1B (all INF codes)*1 Drive Motor "A" Control Module

      HINT: 

      • *1: If any INF codes are output for this DTC, refer to the corresponding diagnostic procedure.
      • P0343-747 may be set due to a malfunction which also causes the DTCs in the preceding table to be set. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the preceding table. Then, perform a test to attempt to reproduce the problems, and check that no DTCs are output.
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   14 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0340-886 is not output. A
      P0340-886 is also output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, confirm that it is properly connected by checking that the locking claws are engaged and that the connector cannot be pulled out.

    2. Check the connection of the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

      HINT: 

      When connecting the connector, insert it with the locking lever in the raised position. Rotate the lever downward and make sure that the connector is pulled into its socket. When the locking lever is in its fully closed position, a click will be heard as its locking claws engage. After the click is heard, pull up on the connector to confirm that it is properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (ECM CONNECTOR) See step   2 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK ECM 
    1. Disconnect connector A67 from the ECM.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A67-9 (GO1) - A67-22 (GO2) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      *a Component without harness connected
      (ECM)
    3. Connect the ECM connector.

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the low voltage connector A64 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    3. Disconnect connector A67 from the ECM.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A64-1 (GI) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      (to ECM)
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the inverter with converter assembly connector and ECM connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A64-1 (GI) - A67-22 (GO2) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A64-1 (GI) or A67-22 (GO2) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    8. Connect the ECM connector.
    9. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   16 

  8. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (ECM CONNECTOR) See step   2 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the low voltage connector A64 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    3. Disconnect connector A67 from the ECM.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A64-1 (GI) - A67-22 (GO2) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A64-1 (GI) or A67-22 (GO2) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Connect the ECM connector.
    6. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect connector A67 from the ECM.
    2. Disconnect connector A65 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A67-9 (GO1) - A65-16 (GI) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      A67-9 (GO1) or A65-16 (GI) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    4. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Connect the ECM connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the low voltage connector A64 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A64-1 (GI) - A64-10 (GND1) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      (Inverter with Converter Assembly)
    4. Connect the inverter with converter assembly connector.

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Disconnect connectors A65 and D72 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A65-16 (GI) - D72-6 (E1) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    3. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

    NG → See step   17 

    OK → See step   15 

  13. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  14. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  15. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  16. REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  17. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
