- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check if CAN communication DTC is output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
.
Result
Result Proceed to CAN communication DTC is not output. A CAN communication DTC is output. B
B → See step 7
A: Go to next step
- Check if CAN communication DTC is output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
.
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Ignition switch on (IG).
- Turn the tester on.
- Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
- Check the operation by referring to the table below.COMBINATION METER:
Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Fuel Meter Operation Fuel receiver gauge EMPTY, 1/2, FULL - OK
Needle indication is normal.
NG → See step 8
OK: Go to next step
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Ignition switch on (IG).
- Turn the tester on.
- Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
- Check the values by referring to the table below.COMBINATION METER:
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Fuel Input Fuel input signal Min.: 0, Max.: 127.5 Fuel gauge indicates (E): 7.5 (L)
Fuel gauge indicates (1/2): 35.0 (L)
Fuel gauge indicates (F): 62.9 (L)- OK
Fuel value signal displayed on the tester is almost the same as needle indication.
NG → See step 8
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY)
- Disconnect the E1 and fuel sender gauge assembly connectors.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E1-34 (FR) - 2 Always Below 1 Ω E1-19 (FE) - 1 Always Below 1 Ω 2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher E1-34 (FR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the fuel sender gauge connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals 1 and 2 of the connector according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Float Level Resistance (Ω) F 3.0 to 5.0 Between E and F 3.0 to 111.0 (Gradually changes) E 109.0 to 111.0 - Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2 for 2GR-FE. Refer to REMOVAL for 1AR-FE.
- Check that the float moves smoothly between F and E.
- Check the fuel sender gauge if there is deformation in the arm.
Result
Result Proceed to OK A NG (for 2GR-FE) B NG (for 1AR-FE) C
B → See step 9
C → See step 11
A: Go to next step
- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
- Replace the combination meter assembly with a new one or a normal one. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
.
OK
The operation of the combination meter assembly returns to normal.
Result
Result Proceed to OK A NG (for 2GR-FE) B NG (for 1AR-FE) C
B → See step 10
C → See step 12
A → END
