    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E10-4 (ADI1) - E10-9 (SG) AUTO switch ON Below 2.5 Ω
      E10-4 (ADI1) - E10-9 (SG) OFF switch ON 313 to 345 Ω
      E10-4 (ADI1) - E10-9 (SG) TEMP + switch ON 950 to 1050 Ω
      E10-4 (ADI1) - E10-9 (SG) TEMP - switch ON 2954 to 3266 Ω

    NG → See step   2

    OK → See step   5

  2. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Disconnect the z2 steering pad switch connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

Tester Connection (Symbols) Switch Condition Specified Condition
      z2-3 (AC1) - z2-2 (EAC) AUTO switch ON Below 2.5 Ω
      z2-3 (AC1) - z2-2 (EAC) OFF switch ON Approx. 313 to 345 Ω
      z2-3 (AC1) - z2-2 (EAC) TEMP + switch ON Approx. 950 to 1050 Ω
      z2-3 (AC1) - z2-2 (EAC) TEMP - switch ON Approx. 2954 to 3266 Ω

    NG → See step   6

    OK: Go to next step

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D16-10 (AC1) - z2-3 (AC1) Center Below 1 Ω
      D16-10 (AC1) - z2-3 (AC1) 2.5 rotations to the left Below 1 Ω
      D16-10 (AC1) - z2-3 (AC1) 2.5 rotations to the right Below 1 Ω
      D16-9 (EAC) - z2-2 (EAC) Center Below 1 Ω
      D16-9 (EAC) - z2-2 (EAC) 2.5 rotations to the left Below 1 Ω
      D16-9 (EAC) - z2-2 (EAC) 2.5 rotations to the right Below 1 Ω
      NOTE:

The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the cautions and notice when replacing the spiral cable.

      HINT:

The spiral cable makes a maximum of approximately 5 rotations.

    NG → See step   7

    OK: Go to next step

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY)
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Fig 4: Checking Harness And Connector (Air Conditioning Control Assembly - Spiral Cable Sub-Assembly)
