Rear Blower Motor Circuit: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (REAR BLOWER MOTOR) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream main switch on.
    3. Select the item below in the Active Test, and then check that the rear blower with fan motor sub-assembly operates.
      ACTIVE TEST / AIR CONDITIONER

      Rear Blower Motor Rear blower with fan motor sub-assembly Min.: 0, Max.: 31 -

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      NG (blower motor does not operate) A
      NG (blower motor operates but does not change speed) B
      OK C

    B → See step   6 

    C → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT FUSE (RR CLR) 
    1. Remove the RR CLR H-fuse from the engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance of the H-fuse.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      RR CLR H-fuse Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT REAR BLOWER WITH FAN MOTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the N10 motor connector.

    2. Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1, then check that the rear blower motor operates smoothly.

      OK

      The rear blower with fan motor sub-assembly operates smoothly.

    3. Measure the current of the connector.

      Standard current

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N10-1 - N10-2 Rear blower with fan motor sub-assembly operates Below 13.5 A

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR BLOWER MOTOR - REAR BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the N11 rear motor control connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N10-2 - N11-2 (VIM) Always Below 1 Ω
      N10-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      N10-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Install the RR CLR H-fuse.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N11-1 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N11-6 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER - BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL) 
    1. Disconnect the D38 amplifier connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D38-22 (BLWH) - D11-3 (SI) Always Below 1 Ω
      D38-20 (GND2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER 
    1. Reconnect the D38 amplifier connector.
    2. Remove the air conditioning amplifier with its connectors still connected. Refer to REMOVAL .

    3. Check the waveform of the amplifier connector.

      OK

      Waveform is as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      The waveform varies with the blower level.

      Item Content
      Tester Connection D38-22 (BLWH) - D38-20 (GND2)
      Tool Setting 1 V/DIV., 500 μsec./DIV.
      Condition Ignition switch ON
      Blower switch LO

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   11 

  8. REPLACE REAR BLOWER WITH FAN MOTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  10. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  11. REPLACE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL. Refer to  REMOVAL
